Top 5 Moments from The Walking Dead S8E12 "The Key"

Warning: this blog contains TV and comic spoilers!

Okay, so the walker-blood battle at Hilltop is next episode. We hope.

Despite the fact that "The Key" was basically an episode about a detour/disruption on The Saviors' journey to Hilltop, the show may have set some major things in motion for the future.

From curious visitors to flaming Lucille, this episode had a lot of high points - here are our picks for the top five!

05. Daryl Apologizes to Rick

Rick had pretty much defeated Negan and The Saviors near the mid-season finale, but an overzealous Daryl inadvertently let them escape. Seeing the two old friends clear the air was a cool moment. It showed the writers still value the legendary bond Rick and Daryl have, which has been going strong for eight seasons. All those memories, man.

04. A Seed is Planted at Hilltop

What better place than the farming community, right? An interesting visitor offered Maggie a deal. After considering it, she accepted - and she ended up getting food and valuable information that could help her develop the community. Then the visitor left, promising a return at some point. There's a chance the showrunners just set up something huge from the comics.

03. Negan's Top Associates Move On

Simon and Dwight both betrayed Negan, though neither knows of the other's transgression. After a heart-to-heart about their disagreements regarding Negan's leadership, and after reasoning he was as good as dead, the two rallied their troops and moved on. This means Simon's plan of ending their rivals is in full-effect. But will Dwight really attack Hilltop? He switched sides once, and his main beef was with Negan himself - so it's a possibility.

02. Rick vs. Negan 2

This was better than their first battle at Alexandria. After running Negan's car off the road and chasing him into a run-down building, Rick revived his handy hatchet and Negan ended up tumbling through the darkness. Negan found out about The Scavengers being killed, and even tried to offer Rick a chance to go back to how things were. Sort of. But the battle culminated as they fought each other (and walkers) using an ignited Lucille. It looked like Negan was going to escape AGAIN, until...

01. Jadis Takes Negan for a Drive

In the final scene, we saw a groggy Negan regain consciousness in a car only to find out he was being held at gunpoint by the driver - Jadis! Does she believe Negan himself ordered the deaths of all her people? Even if he tells her the truth, will she buy it? Did Rick give Negan over as some kind of peace offering? If not, how did she capture him? And perhaps most important of all, why wasn't she in a garbage truck? It would've just been more fitting.

We'll be talking about next week's episode, as well as exploring The Walking Dead's "All Out War" story arc in detail with additional reviews, blogs, podcasts, and more! Be sure to like us on Facebook and join in the discussion!

The War Is On! | TWD S8E1 “Mercy” Review & Recap

We wanted war, and we got it. The Walking Dead started season 8 off with a bang, showing Rick and the group taking a calculated, strategic approach to dismantling Negan’s empire. After Daryl gets some intel from Dwight, we see Negan’s lookouts getting picked off one by one. Anticipating that such a loss of ground would result in an investigation, the crew has already rigged up a trap to dismantle the soldiers Negan sent out. The three communities combine their forces, rolling up to The Sanctuary in armored vehicles and packing enough firepower to stand their ground. It’s then the showrunners reference a concept that still doesn’t get the attention it deserves – Negan’s followers. His lieutenants are all given a choice to walk away. They’re all there – Simon, Gavin, Dwight, Eugene and…Regina? Fine, but that fifth spot could’ve gone to Arat, just saying. Rick holds off on the fire fight here because he understands a simple truth that has been ...

Top 5 Moments from The Walking Dead S8E10 "The Lost and the Plunderers"

Warning: this blog contains spoilers! The Walking Dead is keeping a frantic pace in the second half of season eight. Titled “The Lost and the Plunderers,” the episode saw allegiances tested and the gore-factor cranked up a few notches. Familiar faces are resurfacing, and old decisions are coming back to haunt various characters – some with fatal results. Check out our picks for this episode’s top five moments! 05. Oceanside Shows Enid and Aaron Mercy After Enid killed the leader of Oceanside in what seemed to be defense of Aaron, the two found themselves facing potential execution. But Cyndie, the older granddaughter, spared them.  It’s also interesting to compare the talk the Oceansiders had with Enid and Aaron to the one Morgan, Ezekiel, and Carol had with Gavin last week. One person’s hero can be another’s villain. 04. Rick and Negan Have a Serious Chat No theatrics, no puns, no bravado – just the show’s two leading m...

Rose Namajunas came into her strawweight title bout as a massive underdog against the undefeated champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. She shocked the MMA world by scoring a first-round finish, knocking Jedrzejczyk down multiple times and making the feared female tap to strikes.
